Article Title: How Sujit Choudhry has Redefined Global Geopolitics through The Center for Constitutional Transitions

Article Text:

Sujit Choudhry is one of the passionate legal experts in the world. In the last one decade — through The Center for Constitutional Transitions — he has successfully refined the constitutional discourses around the world. His vast knowledge of law allows him to simplify complex legal realities to people. According to him, educating people is one of his obligations as a public intellectual.

Although most intellectuals shy away from discussing and reviewing political implications of policies and governmental decisions — Sujit Choudhry believes that the public has a right to know the impact of political realities too. This brilliant and unmatched approach to international law and international relations makes him one of the most influential public intellectuals of our time.

Apart from studying, speaking and writing exclusively about the USA legal landscape, Sujit Choudhry is vocal on international matters. In the last two decades, for example, Choudhry has written some of the best pieces on international laws — UN has adopted some, partially and in totality. In the last two decades, Sujit Choudhry has also traveled around the world, specifically in countries with hostile political transitions.

Unlike other intellectuals, he believes that the politics of other countries have a global impact — even to peaceful countries such as the USA. This reality has therefore reshaped his approach when studying war, political violence, and more importantly political transitions.

Sujit Choudhry main motivation (in writing and discussing political and legal realities in the word) is seeing a just society. Regardless of whether he is addressing the Spain-Catalonia secession or the Nepal geopolitics, his main aim is to inject human face into these critical discussions. He is also one of the few public intellectuals that are interested in democracy — as an essential subject matter in geopolitics.

His love for knowledge is a product of his upbringing — by parents who were college professors — and the kind of literature; he interacted with when he was a young boy. When he started school at McGill University in the faculty of medical studies, his love for law outgrew his interest in medicine. The change was critical for his intellectual growth. Besides, his supportive family assisted him in making the transition
